Our Experience with Dwarf Arctic Willow:

The special characteristic of Dwarf Arctic Willow (also known as Nana Willow) is its slender stems and tiny leaves. Even when you let it grow large, the distal stems will be very tiny and covered with tiny leaves. It looks quite beautiful and is unique among willow types.

Willow trees with special characteristics like color, curls, or catkins need to be pruned to maximize display. These special characteristics will only show on first year wood so coppicing or pollarding your trees is an excellent way to maximize the display.

Our small trees are grown from stock on our farm. They are established during the previous year. They are well rooted, established, trees grown over the last nine months in one gallon containers. They are ready to be potted up or planted in the ground.

Overview of Dwarf Arctic Willow Tree from the Internet:

The Dwarf Arctic Willow (Salix purpurea 'Nana') is a compact, deciduous shrub prized for its fine-textured, blue-green foliage and graceful, rounded form. This fast-growing plant typically reaches a height and spread of three to five feet, making it an excellent choice for small gardens, low hedges, or mass plantings. Its slender, purplish stems provide winter interest. Extremely adaptable, it thrives in full sun and tolerates a wide range of soil conditions, including wet areas, making it suitable for rain gardens. This hardy and low-maintenance willow adds delicate texture and color to the landscape throughout the seasons.
