Our Experience with Kip Parker Mulberry Tree:

Kip Parker Mulberry is one of the best tasting mulberries on our farm. It's ortet is located in Kentucky so it is more cold hardy than needed to survive on Lopez Island. We like to call it our Fourth of July mulberry because many berries will have red, white, and blue/black coloring all on the same berry as they ripen.

Our mulberry trees have survived several winters here on Lopez Island including lows in the mid teens. Cold damage is always a possibility in the winter but they will survive to fruit another day! Mulberry trees fruit early in the summer on buds established the previous winter. Their fruiting behavior is similar to Kiwis, Currants, and Grapes so be careful how you prune or you will reduce your harvest the following summer!

Our small tree collections are grown from stock on our farm. They are established during the previous year. They are about a foot or two tall. They are well rooted, established, trees that are grown over the last nine months in one gallon containers. They are ready to be potted up or planted in the ground.

Overview of Kip Parker Mulberry from the Internet:

The Kip Parker mulberry is a highly regarded hybrid (Morus rubra x alba) celebrated for its exceptional flavor, impressive fruit size, and high productivity. This variety produces large, delicious berries that display a unique red, white, and black coloration as they ripen. The tree has a vigorous, upright growth habit that benefits from pruning to keep the abundant harvest within easy reach. Valued by enthusiasts, the Kip Parker is often compared to the popular 'Illinois Everbearing', with many favoring its consistent and rich flavor profile. It is a reliable and rewarding choice for any gardener seeking a top-tier mulberry.
