Our Experience with Maple Leaf Mulberry:

Maple Leaf Mulberry is a little shy about fruiting but once it begins to fruit is has larger elongated mulberries... not quite the length of Pakistan Mulberry but still bigger than berries on other trees. It has a good taste. We like it because it propagates easily and has a beautiful and distinctive leaf.

Our mulberry trees have survived (we tossed the ones that didn't ☹️) several winters (we tossed the ones that didn't!) here on Lopez Island including lows in the mid teens. Cold damage is always a possibility in the winter but they will survive to fruit another day! Mulberry trees fruit early in the summer on buds established the previous winter. Their fruiting behavior is similar to Kiwis, Currants, and Grapes so be careful how you prune or you will reduce your harvest the following summer!

Our small tree collections are grown from stock on our farm. They are established during the previous year. They are about a foot or two tall. They are well rooted, established, trees that are grown over the last nine months in one gallon containers. They are ready to be potted up or planted in the ground.

Overview of Maple Leaf Mulberry Tree from the Internet:

The Maple Leaf Mulberry tree is a fast-growing, deciduous tree prized for its unique, lobed leaves that resemble those of a maple tree. This ornamental quality adds visual interest to any landscape. Beyond its attractive foliage, this variety produces an abundance of large, sweet, and flavorful dark purple to black berries, similar in taste to some of the finest mulberry varieties. It is a hardy and adaptable tree, tolerant of various soil types and drought conditions once established. Thriving in full sun, the Maple Leaf Mulberry is an excellent choice for those seeking both an aesthetically pleasing and fruit-bearing addition to their garden.
