Our Experience with Ramshorn Willow:

Ramshorn Willow has the unique quality of curly leaves. Not just some, all of them are curly throughout the growing season. Unlike most willow trees which need to be pruned to encourage first year wood growth to display bark color or catkins or stem curls, Ramshorn will always have curly leaves regardless how large it gets. Another great conversation piece for the yard.

Willow trees with special characteristics like color, curls, or catkins need to be pruned to maximize display. These special characteristics will only show on first year wood so coppicing or pollarding your trees is an excellent way to maximize the display.

Our small trees are grown from stock on our farm. They are established during the previous year. They are well rooted, established, trees grown over the last nine months in one gallon containers. They are ready to be potted up or planted in the ground.

Overview of Ramshorn Willow from the Internet:

The Ramshorn Willow, a unique cultivar of the corkscrew willow (Salix matsudana 'Tortuosa'), is a captivating deciduous tree known for its dramatically contorted and curling branches. This distinct structure provides significant visual interest, especially in the winter landscape after its leaves have dropped. The bright, golden-yellow stems twist into tight curls resembling a ram's horn, making them a popular choice for floral arrangements and crafts. It is a fast-growing, medium-sized tree that thrives in full sun and moist, well-drained soils. Ideal as a striking specimen plant, the Ramshorn Willow adds a touch of architectural elegance to any garden.
