Our Experience with Sunny Twist Willow:
The branches of Sunny Twist range yellow to orange to red in color. Among our curly willow trees, it has the most chaotic and twisty curls. We grow about a hundred of these trees in our orchard and harvest the curly branches every year for decorative branches... perfect for dry flower arrangements. Willow trees with special characteristics like color, curls, or catkins need to be pruned to maximize display. These special characteristics will only show on first year wood so coppicing or pollarding your trees is an excellent way to maximize the display. Our small trees are grown from stock on our farm. They are established during the previous year. They are well rooted, established, trees grown over the last nine months in one gallon containers. They are ready to be potted up or planted in the ground.
Overview of Sunny Twist Willow from the Internet:
The Sunny Twist Willow (Salix x sepulcralis 'Erythroflexuosa'), also known as Golden Curls, is a deciduous tree valued for its unique, contorted branching. This fast-growing ornamental develops a rounded crown with gracefully weeping younger branches that twist and curl, providing significant visual interest, particularly in the winter landscape after its lance-shaped, glossy green leaves have dropped. The stems display a golden-yellow color, adding to its year-round appeal. It thrives in full sun and moist, well-drained soils. This willow is a suitable choice for a specimen plant, providing texture and a sculptural element to the garden.
